On December 17, the liquidator of Arrowood Indemnity Company filed a motion to extend the proof of claim filing deadline. The motion cited three principal reasons: complexities of sharing data and documents with state guaranty funds that caused significant delays, outstanding notice and legal issues relating to state guaranty funds, and confidentiality concerns relating to sexual abuse claims. Further, it argues that extending the bar date would allow all possible Arrowood claimants to fully evaluate whether they wish to file POCs after the resolution of the issues above.

On December 26, the court of chancery of the State of Delaware granted the motion and ordered the bar date pushed back to May 15, 2025.  This means that proof of claim forms and supporting documents must now be received by close of business on that date. Nothing precludes Arrowood creditors from filing their claims earlier. For more information on Arrowood and the proof of claim procedures, please see our recent explainer video.
